“Everything will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it is not yet the end"
~ Simit Patel
It was 30 days ago that I gave myself a 2 part, 30-day challenge, with the promise to check in with the results in 30 days…so, as promised…
The challenge consisted of 2 simple parts:
- Simplify – simplify my life by reducing my commitments
- Experience – enjoy and truly experience the commitment I have that is of greatest importance to me, and to truly experience all of my actions and commitments
The results are in…AND…I am disappointed.
Although I went through the process of listing my commitments, and simplifying my list – finishing one of my commitments on day 1 and relieving myself of one other commitment on day 2 – I pretty much didn’t even start on the second part.
Yes, I freed up some time and energy. I relieved myself of some of my “to do’s.” But I did not take the time and energy saved and put it toward truly experiencing my most important commitment. As a matter of fact, I didn’t try experiencing my any of my actions and commitments as I had intended…worse, I let myself take on new commitments to others, and to myself. I pretty much forgot what I was doing after day 2.
That is a pretty sad state of affairs, but it let me know something about myself…I am not good at focusing! I’m not going to beat myself up about it. I can’t change the past, but I can choose to feel okay with it. I did learn something about myself.
I didn’t keep my intention, so, I am deciding to retake the challenge. I will go at in once again, but this time I will find a way to remind myself, several times a day, what I am intending to do.
I will check in again in another 30 days.
Did you take on the challenge? If so, how did you do? I’m sure anyone who tried this challenge had much better results than I did. If you didn’t try the challenge, will you try it with me this time? Leave us a comment and let us know how you did, and if you will join us this time around. We’re listening.
You can find the original post that includes the challenge at: The 30 Day Challenge.
