“Do not attempt to conquer the world with force, for force only causes resistance.”
~ Lao Tzu
Do you have things that you want to happen in your life? I imagine, if you are alive at all, you definitely have dreams and goals. Do some of these dreams and goals really drive you? Do you want them so badly that you are willing to do almost anything to get them?
Most of us have such dreams and goals. They spring from our passions, which in turn, are driven by our purpose. We feel that our dreams and goals will give us significance in our lives…at least personal significance.
So, when you have a dream that is driving you forward, what do you do? Do you make a plan, pursue the goal, reassess on a regular basis, and make a new plan? Do you put all of your effort into making that dream come true?
Do you allow the dream to come true? Do you set your intentions, visualize it, and then let go of any attachment to the outcome? Do you not worry about how the dream will come about, trusting in the Universe to bring the circumstances, people, and events into your life that will line everything up for you?
If you were raised in our current society, chances are that you will take the first approach to achieving your dream. It is how most of us are taught. We are told that anything worth having will take hard work and struggle…and since we are told this from a very young age, we incorporate it into our belief system. And since it is a belief, it is true for us.
However, we can change our beliefs, and if we do so, we can take the second approach. Allowing the Universe to be a part of our creation is a much more effective approach. This is true for a few reasons. Firstly, when allowing, we don’t force anything. We don’t struggle. We just allow it to come to us. We allow our actions to be inspired, and inspired actions will always lead to much quicker, and often much better results.
Secondly, when we allow the Universe to arrange things for us…without holding it to our plan…we open the door for the most amazing string of events and circumstances to come into our life to allow us to experience our dream. We allow for any possibility, and what happens is usually so far outside of what we could ever have thought of, that it seems almost impossible (once we look back over the whole thing – as we progress, each happening, each action, each person that we meet will seem like just the next logical step.)
Thirdly, when we try to make something happen, we are offering resistance…actually offering resistance to what we are trying to achieve. We fight against the odds. We struggle to make certain things happen…we resist…we resist the flow and well-being that we are trying to invite into our lives. When we let go of our attachment to the results, we stop resisting and the thing we want flows easily into our lives.
So it is your choice. You can force something to come into your life…you can force your plan down the throat of your dream, and it may very well happen…or you can get clear about what you want and allow it to happen through inspired action and Universal collusion. It is really up to you.
If you want to test this out, why don’t you take one of your dreams and work with it in the allowing way? Get clear and allow. You are free to continue to force your other dreams to happen while you allow just this one.
Which path will you choose? The path of struggle and force, or the path of peaceful allowing? Leave a comment and let us know how you plan to approach your next goal. We’re listening.
