“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.”
~ Jim Rohn
It is common to hear people say things like, “I’ll be happy when I have a new house,” or “I’ll be happy when I get a new job,” or “I’ll be happy when I retire.” It is as if we feel our happiness is dependent on outside circumstances and events. It isn’t. Most people have this backwards. Happiness brings happy circumstances into our lives.
One of our main purposes in life is to be happy, but happiness is a feeling, an attitude, and it’s completely independent of what we do or what we have in our lives. We can choose to be happy in every moment. When one realizes this and makes the choice to be happy, they find that the circumstances of their life shift to support that happiness.
What will you choose to be happy about today?
