"Happiness is an inside job."
~ William Arthur Ward
I have often had people tell me, “I’ll be happy when I get a new car,” or “I’ll be happy when I find the perfect mate.” It seems to me that many people in our society feel that, to be happy, they must rely on something outside of themselves. This is not the case.
To be happy, you must decide that you will be happy. That is all there is to it. You see, happiness is an inside job…it is a choice. You can choose to be happy, or you can choose to be otherwise.
Not only is happiness a choice, but when you decide to be happy, and when you practice happiness, the Universe takes a look and says… “Hey…that person wants to be happy!” and promptly sets about delivering circumstances, people, and events that will bring even more happiness.
Don’t get things the wrong way around. Happiness first, and then you will find more things to be happy about flowing into your life from so many sources…most of them completely unexpected.
Can you be happy without things from outside of yourself? Are you willing to give it a chance? Leave us a comment and let the community know what you think about this order of things. We’re listening.
