"Action is the foundational key to all success."~ Pablo Picasso
We’ve all heard the expression, “I need to get my ducks in a row.” Most of us take this to mean to get things organized…to develop a plan. I have a different view of this.
You see, I believe that the Universe loves speed. I really think that making decision quickly helps to gain momentum and move things along.
In our society we are taught to have a plan of action…we are taught to think things through and know all of the steps we will need to take to achieve our goals…our dreams. Well, all I have to say about that is, “Pfffffff.”
Think about your big goal, the thing you dream of more than anything else in the world. Think about what it will be like when you achieve it! Wow, it will be fantastic. (I am talking about a big goal, not something that you don’t even have to work for.) Okay. You’ve got your goal in mind. What’s the plan to get there?
Most people can tell you some of the major things that need to happen for them to achieve that huge goal, but most would also not be able to come up with a complete plan. After all, it was simple, then you would already have it and you would be on to something else. But not having a plan is usually what holds people back.
Here’s how I approach it. First of all, I decide what I want. I think about it. I visualize it. I dream it. I make it as real in my mind as I can. I try to involve all of my senses in the feeling of what I want. Then, with that clear end in mind, I start. That’s right. I start.
“But Don,” I can hear you saying. “How do you start if you haven’t made a plan?” It’s easy. You just do something…anything. Once you start, you will be guided by the Universe to the next logical step, and the next, and the next. You will be presented with opportunities to do things that you may never have thought would belong in any plan that would achieve your goal or dream.
Basically, what I am doing when I just start, is getting my ducks in a row. “What?” you say, “You aren’t getting your ducks in a row…you aren’t making a plan!” Well I have news for you. You need to understand how a mother duck gets her ducklings in a row. She doesn’t sit there telling her ducklings to line up…nope…she just decides to go, and starts. That’s right. If you don’t believe me, then do some research. Check it out. When mom starts to go, all of the ducklings line up behind her…and there you have it, ducks in a row.
You don’t have to see the whole path to start a journey. You don’t have to see the top of the staircase to climb it. You just have to start in the direction you want to go…you can even start in a different direction, but soon you will find the path will curve around and take you in the direction you want to go. Don’t worry about the details. They will happen. You will be inspired. You will find the resources you need delivered to you at exactly the right time.
The Universe loves speed. So get that goal firmly and vividly in mind, and start. Just start. The way will be revealed.
