"It is never too late to be what you might have been."
~ George Eliot
This was not the blog post I had planned for today. This was not a blog post I had ever planned on writing, but it is what I am inspired to write, and that is enough for me.
My message is about living a life of personal significance…living a life that matters to you. I have a lot to say on the subject, and I have many ideas and ideals that have developed during my journey to where I am now…but, I feel like a fraud.
I tell people that they should be doing what brings them joy. I tell them to dream big. I tell them that they have responsibility for everything in their lives…and it is all true…but..
I have strayed from my intended path, and I am not following my own advice, my own philosophy.
This has been weighing me down for a while, and so, at this time, I am going to do something about it. I am going to reset my intentions, and I am going to get clear about where I am going with my life, and more importantly, where I want to end up. I will get some clarity on what a life of personal significance is to me.
I have given this a lot of thought. I have decided to focus my life on 6 areas. These areas overlap, but they are distinct. I will focus my life on the things that I currently find important. The areas are general and broad, and within each, I have developed some specific directions…goals if you want to give them a name that, although it doesn’t totally describe them, is the best that I can come up with that will make sense to you, my dear reader.
The broad areas of my life are:
- Health – Spiritual, Mental, and physical
- Freedom – Freedom of both time and location
- Philanthropy – Sharing my wealth – financial, knowledge, insights
- Music – Creating and sharing beautiful music – my own, or the music of others
- Writing – Sharing my concepts and ideals, through fiction and non-fiction
- Art – Creating works of art that will please the eye
These are the things that I am passionate about. These will lead me toward accomplishing my purpose here on this plane in this life.
At this time, I set my intention to live my life in pursuit of these things…in the enjoyment of discovery and creation. These six areas will be the cornerstones of my life of personal significance. Each thing that I do in each day will support or move me along in one of these areas.
There will need to be some major changes in my life. I don’t know what that looks like yet, but I do know that in a fairly short period of time, I intend to transform my life into the life that I truly desire…a life that will fulfil me. I don’t know where it will end up, but I know that I will be happy with it.
Who among you will join me? What do you think of taking this approach? Do you feel that merely setting your intention can change your life? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think? We’re listening.
