What Are You Thinking About?

Thinking"Positive thinking is more than just a tagline. It changes the way we behave. And I firmly believe that when I am positive, it not only makes me better, but it also makes those around me better."

~ Harvey Mackay

Anyone who has heard of the Universal Law of Attraction or anything similar has heard that we attract into our lives that which we think about. So, we are told, be careful what you think about.

With this in mind, let’s examine what you have been thinking about. Do you tend to think positive thoughts? Do you concentrate on the positive rather than the negative? Many people that I know think they concentrate on the positive, but they really don’t get what that means.

Do you feel that thinking about having more money or curing an illness are positive thoughts? Sorry to break it to you, but both of these are negative thoughts. They both come from a place of lack…a lack of money, and a lack of health. These thoughts can easily be turned by thinking about living an abundant life, or living a life of vitality, health, and energy. The difference is subtle, and has the same end in mind, but the approach is completely opposite.

How do you know what you’ve been thinking? It is especially difficult to remember if you haven’t been consciously practicing controlling your thoughts…but you really don’t have to remember. Just look around you. What you are living is a result of your thoughts.

You can change your thoughts just as easily as deciding that you will change them, and then taking the time and practicing being aware of what you are thinking. When you catch yourself going along a negative track, just stop yourself, and choose different thoughts. It is that easy…and the more that you practice this, the more natural it becomes. When you catch yourself thinking thoughts that might not be in your best interest, don’t scold yourself. Just notice it, and choose differently. Scolding yourself will only promote more negativity.

Become aware. Choose positivity. That is all there is to changing your habit of thought. So I encourage you to give it a whirl…after all, what do you have to lose?
